Volunteer Waiver & Release READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING!
Green Star of Interior Alaska (hereafter, “Green Star”) is committed to conducting reuse and recycling opportunities and activities and holds the safety of volunteers in high regard. Green Star continually strives to manage risks associated with its volunteer activities and programs and requires all volunteers follow rules and instructions that are designed to increase the volunteer’s safety. However, volunteers must recognize that we cannot control all conduct and circumstances and there is an inherent risk of death, bodily injury, disability, and illness when volunteering for any Green Star activity or program. No risk can be completely eliminated without destroying the unique character of the activity or program.
Each volunteer is solely responsible for determining if they are physically fit, properly skilled, and of sufficient maturity for any volunteer activity. It is always advisable – especially if the volunteer is pregnant, disabled in any way, or has recently suffered an illness, injury or impairment – to consult a physician before undertaking any physical activity.
Warning of Risk
Although Green Star has taken reasonable steps to provide you with appropriate equipment, instruction and supervision, there is still a risk of death, bodily injury, disability, illness, and other damages and loss when performing volunteer services. Volunteers must understand that depending upon the volunteer services, certain risks due to acts of nature, epidemics and pandemics, conduct of other volunteers, inclement weather, slips and falls, inadequate or defective equipment, failure in supervision or instruction, premises defects, horseplay, carelessness, lack of skill or poor technique, theft, and all other circumstances inherent or unforeseen to the particular volunteer services exist. These risks include, but are not limited to: exposure to toxic materials and dust through the eyes, nose, ears, mouth and skin; injuries associated with heavy lifting, dropping heavy items, and falling items; and injuries associated with the use of hand and power tools, handling of sharp items, exposure to viruses and other disease, and loss of property.
Waiver and Release of All Claims and Assumption of Risk
I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of bodily injury, illness, disability, and loss resulting from volunteer services with Green Star. I voluntarily agree to assume the full risk of any and all injuries, illness, disability, and other damages and loss, regardless of severity, that I may sustain as a result of my volunteer services. I FURTHER AGREE TO WAIVE AND RELINQUISH ANY AND ALL CLAIMS I MAY HAVE, OR THAT ACCRUE TO ME, AS A RESULT OF MY VOLUNTEER SERVICES AGAINST GREEN STAR, INCLUDING ITS BOARD MEMBERS, OFFICERS, AGENTS, VOLUNTEERS, AND EMPLOYEES (HEREAFTER, “PARTIES”).
I do hereby release and forever discharge the Parties from any and all claims for bodily injury, illness, disability, damages and loss, whether related to inherent risks OR NOT, that I may have or which may accrue to me during my volunteer services, whether arising from negligence of the Parties, their training, or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
