140 Systems Distributed in 2024
At Green Star of Interior of Alaska we love being able to give electronics another life, keeping them out of our landfills. Our Reuse IT staff refurbish previously owned systems and this year, via the Reboot IT Technology Grants program, distributed 140 low or no cost laptops, computer systems, printers, networking equipment, etc. to financially distressed residents and non-profit organizations in Interior Alaska. These 140 systems total 560 lbs diverted from landfills and 92 free systems – and that’s just from the Reboot IT Technology Grants program! Our Reuse IT storefront and Rebuild IT classes enabled the reuse of literally tons of laptop and desktop systems in 2024.
Great job Reuse IT team! You can apply for a Reboot IT technology grant here or donate to help fund this critical program here. Stop by our Reuse IT storefront at 2134 Texaco Ave. Mon-Fri 10-5 or Sat 1-4 to have a look at all of the low-cost refurbished systems available. We also repair, upgrade, do data migrations, etc. to Mac and PC laptop and desktop systems!
Need to empty your electronics drawer or get rid of your old computer system or printer that’s collecting dust? Bring it with your aluminum cans, #1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs, household batteries, cardboard and paper to the FNSB Central Recycling Facility (CRF) at 1855 Marika Rd. Our staff will go through and disassemble it for recycling or refurbish it to give it a new life. The FNSB CRF is open Tuesdays-Fridays 10-5:30 and Saturdays 9-5. Happy Recycling!
