Eyeglasses for the Lions now accepted at the FNSB CRF!
We are very happy to announce Fairbanks North Star Borough, The Aurora Borealis Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center and Green Star have partnered to give you one less stop to make as you get your recycling done here in the FNSB.
Eyeglasses recycled right here in North Pole
The Lions has a state-of-the-art eyeglass recycling facility right here in North Pole! And they not only give glasses to FNSB residents. Not even just Alaska residents. Not even just to USA residents. The Lions ship glasses recycled at their Aurora Borealis Lions Eyeglass Recycling Facility all over the world. And they recycle almost everything that comes into their facility – still usable or not!
How it works:
- Bring your eyeglasses with you to the FNSB Central Recycling Facility when you drop off your other recyclables. (1855 Marika Rd. off of Aurora – Tue-Fri 10-5:30 or Sat 9-5)
- Put the eyeglasses into the collection box on the electronics table (located between the paper / cardboard shack and the plastic / aluminum carts)
- That’s is! One less stop to make in your busy day! We will take care of making sure all of the eyeglasses that come into the CRF are delivered to the Lions Eyeglass Recycling center in North Pole!
Our thanks to the Borough and to the Lions Club!
Green Star’s mission has always been to encourage and enable the increase of waste reduction and recycling in the FNSB and Interior Alaska. We must say, though, as the operator of the CRF for FNSB it does our hearts good to see how quickly FNSB acted to allow this simple “one less stop” collection to happen. The same can be said for the Lions – Our great thanks to the Lions for their tireless work making sure Alaskans and beyond have access to quality eyecare and, when possible, free prescription glasses. Your work is so important!
