Composting Summer 2025
Green Star is excited to share some composting news from some of our friends! Did you know nearly 30% that goes into our landfill is organic and could potentially be composted? Fairbanks Compost Collective and Compost FBX are working to help you keep organics out of our landfill this summer and turn them into compost.
Compost FBX has their waitlist available for their Backyard Composting Program this summer! While they are still waiting for a federal grant to come through, they are hoping that they will be able to offer more spots for their program this summer. By signing up for the waitlist you will be on the list to find out when sign ups are available and the status of the program.
Fairbanks Compost Collective is currently gearing up for the first summer of their pilot curbside collection service. Households and businesses can separate their organic waste into buckets and collective staff will collect it regularly to make compost. They are asking folks to fill out this quick survey to help them figure out how they can fill community needs this summer.
