This past weekend Green Star staff joined Zender Environmental and City of Delta Junction staff for the 2nd Annual Delta Junction E-Waste Collection Event at the Delta Junction Landfill. Residents in the area brought in their e-waste to total a whopping 1021 pounds of e-waste, 1281 of batteries and 17 pounds of lightbulbs! Way to go Delta Junction!
Green Star is the Regional Coordinator for Backhaul Alaska Interior region. We work with communities to coordinate the shipping and processing of electronics. After collection, e-waste is taken to Green Star’s Electronics Warehouse for processing. Computers and laptops that can be refurbished are worked on and sold at our Reuse IT store or regranted via our Reboot IT program. Other e-waste is packaged to be sent to the lower 48 for recycling and batteries are sorted by chemistry for shipping .
