Committee PeopleAre you passionate about green living, recycling, and community sustainability?

 

Do you have skills or connections related to: education, environmental issues, fundraising, marketing, recycling, or special events planning?

If so, please consider joining one of Green Star’s standing committees. We are looking for energetic, creative, and enthusiastic people to support our mission: encouraging and enabling our community to reduce waste and increase recycling. Your service would be greatly appreciated, and no experience is necessary. Benefits of becoming a committee member include forming meaningful and lasting connections in the community, contributing to the impact Interior Alaska Green Star makes in our community, and supporting locally-based sustainable practices. Executive Board Committee

sunPurpose

  • Comprised of board President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary
  • Oversees general operations of the board
  • Acts on behalf of the board during on-demand activities that occur between meetings
  • Evaluates Executive Director annually

Board Development Committee

  • Ensures effective board processes, structures and roles
  • Coordinates retreat planning, committee development, and board evaluation
  • Identifies needed board member skills and suggests potential members
  • Coordinates new board member orientation and training

Meets on an as-needed basis, no more than once per month

Fundraising Committee

fundraisingPurpose

  • Oversees development of the Fundraising Plan
  • Identifies and solicits funds from external sources of support
  • Oversees development of the budget
  • Ensures accurate tracking/monitoring of funds
  • Ensures adequate financial controls
  • Reviews major grants and associated terms

Commitment

Meets monthly, the 3rd Wednesday of every month, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Design Alaska.

Outreach & Education Committee

Energy Hog-1Purpose

  • Public Relations – Promotes organization’s services to the community; assist with booths at community events
  • Assist efforts to inform and educate community through partnerships with local schools and other organizations
  • Revisit the layout of annual Recycling Guide
  • Offer input on website redevelopment
  • Work on Recycling Curriculum Kit project

Project/Special Event Committee
